In a significant ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, Agartala, the 35th Battalion of the Assam Rifles was conferred with the prestigious Governor of Tripura Citation 2026. The award was presented by the Governor of Tripura, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, in recognition of the battalion’s outstanding contributions to maintaining peace, ensuring security, and providing humanitarian aid within the state.
Operational Excellence & Anti-Narcotics Drive
Since its deployment in Agartala in September 2024, the 35 Assam Rifles has distinguished itself through its relentless efforts in counter-narcotics operations. Under the vision of “Nasha Mukt North East,” the unit successfully targeted drug trafficking networks and illegal cultivation. Their “Area Domination” patrols and mobile check posts have been instrumental in strengthening the state’s security framework.
Humanitarian Aid during Floods
The citation also highlighted the battalion’s heroic role during the devastating floods in Tripura. Risking their lives under challenging conditions, the troops conducted extensive rescue and relief operations, distributing essential materials and helping restore normalcy in the hardest-hit regions.
Strengthening Civil-Military Relations
Beyond tactical operations, the 35 Assam Rifles has fostered a strong bond with the local populace through medical camps, educational initiatives, and civic action programs. Alongside the 35 Assam Rifles, the 637 SATA Battery of the Indian Army was also honored for its distinguished service.
