Targeted Support for Civil Services Seekers
In a significant move to support the academic ambitions of local youth, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has announced a fresh welfare initiative targeting civil services candidates from the state. The student organization will provide a one-time financial assistance of ₹50,000 each to 25 deserving UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) aspirants from Assam who successfully clear the preliminary examination.
The official announcement was made via a video message broadcast by AASU President Utpal Sarma. The initiative is designed to alleviate the sudden financial burden faced by students as they transition into the demanding secondary stages of the civil services selection matrix.
Bridging the Gap Between Prelims and Mains
The structural focus of this financial package targets the critical, resource-heavy window between the initial screening and the intensive main examinations. AASU leadership noted that while many local students possess the merit to clear the preliminary rounds, the subsequent stages require intensive resources.
- Advanced Resource Management: The ₹50,000 grant is intended to help students cover the costs of specialized mains test series, reference materials, and dedicated answer-writing mentorship.
- Viva-Voce Training: A portion of the focus is directed toward preparing candidates for the final interview (viva-voce) stage, ensuring that regional candidates are well-coached in personality development and presentation.
“Students who clear the prelims require rigorous training and specific guidance while preparing for the mains. AASU has stepped forward to support 25 such candidates in their civil services journey so that they can put their best foot forward without financial constraints,” AASU President Utpal Sarma stated.
A Community Appeal for Academic Excellence
Recognizing that systemic success in national competitive examinations elevates the socio-economic profile of the entire region, the AASU leadership extended an appeal to the wider public of Assam. Sarma urged citizens, educators, and civil society members to build a robust community support network around these deserving candidates to help them achieve their career goals.
By lowering financial barriers during peak preparation months, the student body aims to increase the representation of administrative officers from Assam in the central governance framework, ensuring a stronger regional voice in national policy-making.
