GANGTOK | May 26, 2026 – To provide a more secure, comfortable, and budget-friendly public transit option for women, the Government of Sikkim officially rolled out a dedicated pink city runner service today. Titled “Aama Didi Bahini Sewa,” the transit initiative was flagged off by President Droupadi Murmu, who arrived in the Himalayan state today to begin a three-day official visit.

According to Transport Department Advisor-cum-MLA Madan Cintury, the specially designated pink buses will initially operate along a key 12-kilometer transit route connecting Ranipool to the Sikkim Secretariat in Gangtok. Aimed at assisting working professionals and daily commuters, the one-way fare has been fixed at an affordable ₹25. To prioritize commuter security and modern convenience, the fleet comes fully equipped with CCTV surveillance, mobile charging ports, and air-conditioning facilities.
