Travelling between Delhi and Alwar is set to become much faster and easier, with a new high-speed train expected to reduce the travel time to just under two hours. The upcoming Delhi-Alwar Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will cover the distance in around 117 minutes, offering a major boost to rail connectivity between Rajasthan and the National Capital Region (NCR).

The project is part of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), being developed under the National Capital Region Planning Board. Unlike Rajdhani, Shatabdi or Vande Bharat Express trains, this service will operate as a dedicated rapid rail corridor with a top speed of 160 km per hour.

The Delhi-Alwar corridor is expected to become operational by 2027. Once launched, it will significantly reduce travel time for daily commuters, professionals and businesses travelling between Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan.

On Friday, Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas travelled on the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail in Delhi along with Chief Secretaries from other states. The officials covered a 27-kilometre stretch from New Ashok Vihar to Duhai, where the train reached speeds close to 160 km per hour. During the visit, they also observed the train’s advanced simulation and operational systems.

Officials said the Delhi-Alwar corridor is being planned on the lines of the already operational Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor. The new route will run from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Alwar via key locations such as Manesar and Rewari, making travel across NCR and into Rajasthan much faster and more reliable.

The project will be developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). It will have a total length of about 164 kilometres and is estimated to cost around Rs 37,000 crore. The project is being jointly funded by the central government and the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

According to estimates, the corridor is expected to serve around 8.5 lakh passengers daily by 2030. It is seen as a major step towards easing road congestion, reducing pollution and supporting economic growth in the region.

With the launch of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, cities such as Alwar, Rewari and Manesar will be just minutes away from Delhi instead of hours. The project is expected to bring major benefits for commuters, industries, businesses and overall regional development.
