In a major development following the high-profile assassination of Chandranath Rath, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has confirmed a successful Chandranath Rath murder arrest. On Monday, May 11, police apprehended three individuals from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar linked to the contract killing of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s close aide.
Interstate Operation Leads to Key Arrests
The arrests were carried out after a coordinated raid between the Bengal STF and local police in northern India. The suspects have been identified as:
- Mayank Raj Mishra and Vicky Maurya (detained from Buxar, Bihar)
- Raj Singh (detained from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh)
The trio, suspected to be professional sharpshooters, was tracked across state lines after digital evidence placed them near the crime scene in Madhyamgram on the night of May 6.
The investigation gained momentum after a UPI payment was discovered at the Bally toll plaza. The suspects, traveling in a silver vehicle used in the crime, made a digital transaction that allowed investigators to link a mobile number to the group. Further CCTV footage analysis confirmed the identities of the occupants, leading the SIT to their hideouts in UP and Bihar.
