Originally slated to close its gates to visitors on May 25 to initiate mandatory monsoon-preparedness protocols, the UNESCO World Heritage site will now remain accessible until May 29, 2026.
The decision was finalized after park management assessed a consistent and robust influx of both domestic and international tourists. The Kaziranga Hotel and Resort Association had played a pivotal role in this extension, submitting strong appeals to the park administration to capitalize on the sustained visitor interest during the tail-end of the season.

While the extension provides a much-needed boost to the local economy—impacting businesses ranging from jungle safari operators to resort owners—the park authorities maintain a strict focus on ecological safety.
Park officials confirmed that the four-day grace period is a calculated adjustment. Once the final bell rings on May 29, the park will undergo its seasonal transformation:
