NEW DELHI | May 15, 2026
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has officially announced that the NEET-UG re-examination will be conducted on June 21, 2026. This decision follows the cancellation of the previous exam due to confirmed question paper leaks.
Major Policy Shift: Online Exams from 2027
In a move to curb malpractices and enhance transparency, the Minister revealed that from next year, the NEET-UG will transition to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. This shift is part of broader systemic reforms recommended by the Radhakrishnan Committee to ensure a zero-error examination process.
Relief Measures for Students:
- No Additional Fees: The re-test will be free of charge, and previous examination fees will be refunded.
- Extended Duration: Candidates will get an additional 15 minutes to complete procedural formalities like attendance.
- City Selection: Students will have the option to reselect their preferred examination cities for the re-test.
Zero Tolerance for Malpractice
Addressing the leak, Minister Pradhan stated that question papers were circulated under the guise of “guess papers.” He reiterated the government’s “zero-tolerance” policy, emphasizing that the National Testing Agency (NTA) remains fully accountable for the integrity of the process. Strict legal action is already underway against those involved in the irregularities.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release a detailed public notice regarding the registration and city selection by late evening.
