The academic landscape of Central India is poised for a major transformation with the establishment of Rishi Galav University in Gwalior. The foundation ceremony, held on May 4, marks a significant milestone for the Madhya Bharat Shiksha Samiti, an organization founded in 1941 by the visionary educationist Sadashiv Ganesh Gokhale.
Project Details:
- Infrastructure: The university is being developed on a 55-bigha campus in Village Bela, situated along the Shivpuri Link Road.
- Investment: The total project cost is estimated at ₹110 crore, with ₹30 crore allocated for the first phase of construction.
- Student Capacity: The institution aims to accommodate around 5,000 students once fully operational.
- Vision: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav highlighted that the university will blend Indian knowledge traditions with modern science and technology, moving away from colonial-era academic symbols like black graduation gowns in favor of traditional Indian attire.
This university honors the legacy of Rishi Galav, an ancient sage associated with Gwalior, reinforcing the city’s identity as a historical and modern hub of scholarship.
