Patna: A violent clash stemming from commercial rivalry shook Patna’s educational hub on the night of June 2, 2026. A group of individuals launched a targeted attack on “Khan Global Studies,” a prominent coaching institute run by the widely popular educator Faisal Khan, famously known as “Khan Sir”. The incident involved stone-pelting, severe vandalism, and alleged gunfire at the center located within the Kadamkuan police station area.

The Root Cause: Why the Conflict Started

According to statements from Khan Sir, the underlying trigger for the assault is deep-seated professional and commercial rivalry among coaching centers in Patna. Khan Sir stated that certain competing institutes are resentful of his low-cost, high-yield operational model.

“Their anger is how can someone teach students at such a low cost and still deliver good results each year,” Khan Sir explained, highlighting that his ability to provide affordable, high-quality education to economically weaker sections has disrupted the local commercial coaching market.

Details of the Attack and Casualties

The attack commenced around 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. A mob consisting of 15 to 20 individuals associated with a rival coaching institute arrived at the Khan Global Studies campus. They pelted stones at the building and vandalized property.

During the chaos, an on-duty security guard was brutally assaulted by the miscreants. The guard sustained a severe head injury and was rushed to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), where he is currently undergoing medical treatment. Following the attack, Kanhaiya Singh of Khan Global Studies filed a formal First Information Report (FIR) naming four specific individuals and listing 15 to 20 unidentified attackers.

Current Status and Police Investigation

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Patna Police made significant breakthroughs in the case:

  • Arrests Made: The police arrested three individuals in connection with the violence. Among those detained is Roshan Anand, the director of a rival coaching center named “Gyan Bindu”. The other two arrested suspects have been identified as Gaurav and Abhishek. All three are being remanded to judicial custody.
  • Evidence Review: Rajesh Ranjan, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Nagar-1 (Patna), and the City Police Superintendent (Central, Patna) confirmed that CCTV footage and local inquiries established the involvement of Gyan Bindu affiliates. The identities of the remaining accused have also been established, and active raids are underway.
  • Gunfire Verification: Although Khan Sir’s team initially alleged that the attackers fired gunshots, the SP stated that a thorough review of the CCTV footage found no confirmation of any firing.
  • Defense Counterclaim: Denying all accusations, Gyan Bindu director Roshan Anand claimed that the allegations are completely baseless and are a deliberate attempt to malign his reputation and his coaching institute.

Khan Sir noted that appropriate security arrangements were maintained throughout the night. He has urged the Bihar Chief Minister to ensure continued police deployment to safeguard the thousands of economically weaker students enrolled at his center.

Government Reaction and Future Policy

The incident has triggered a sharp response from the state administration regarding the unregulated nature of coaching center competitions. Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari strongly condemned the law and order disruption. To ensure that commercial animosity does not boil over into public violence again, Minister Tiwari announced that the state government will formulate and implement a comprehensive policy within the next three months specifically designed to regulate coaching institutes and prevent corporate rivalries from disturbing public peace.
