Tensions have escalated within Tripura’s ruling alliance as leaders of the TIPRA Motha Party (TMP) on Friday launched a sharp attack against their coalition partner, the BJP. The party alleged a complete collapse of law and order following the recent TTAADC elections, specifically in the Takarjala and Jampuijala areas of Sepahijala district.
Key Highlights:
- Delegation to DGP: A TIPRA Motha delegation, led by MLA Biswajit Kaloi and newly elected MDC Suraj Debbarma, met with DGP Anurag at the police headquarters in Agartala.
- Serious Allegations: The leaders claimed that bomb blasts, firing incidents, and political intimidation have plagued the region for over two months. They further alleged that firearms were recovered from a BJP candidate’s residence, yet no arrests were made.
- Questioning Inaction: The delegation questioned why the police failed to register suo motu cases even when police personnel themselves were attacked.
- Message to the CM: Indirectly targeting Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha (who holds the Home portfolio), the leaders demanded impartial action against miscreants, regardless of their political affiliation.
