Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the operation in a joint statement, identifying Odeh as the former head of Hamas’s military intelligence and labeling him a primary architect behind the October 7, 2023, attacks. The attack completely flattened the target site, resulting in a wider family and civilian toll:
